How about this fellas? I'm trying to drum up a little more activity for a forum that has been more or less dead for the past few days... whats up with that?!

Anyway, my idea is to basically do a SP1/wprime/pifast bench with all of you guys, but with a restriction: processor speed HAS to be locked at 3.5 or 4Ghz ± 50mhz and be locked at two cores, but unrestricted in other areas.

My reasoning for this is to open this benching to everyone since everyone on this forum can (more or less) hit 4.0 and at the minimum has a dual core... The benching threads has been dead for a couple weeks, and I want to bring back that old competitive side!

Not to mention that we might learn a few things about memory timing tweaking (my grand total experience with memory tweaking? Set to auto or rated speed and forget) and have some fun in the meantime.

Obviously we'll have two sections, one for Intel processors and one for AMD processors, but the rules still stand.

Whadaya think?

The biggest problem with restricted bench offs, is it then comes down to who has the most OS and app tweaks. Which is very annoying.

True, but all I will be doing is to run benches on a unoptimized vista install (64-bit, to boot). The most I will do is to run it in diagnostic mode.

De, I'll be in eventually. ;) Just made a new deal with The Devil... err... Cecil tonight. So I have a new AMD CPU that will be debuted in short order. It should be a runner. Suffice to say that it already holds the site record for wPrime in the AMD categories. 8-) It just hasn't been unleashed yet to its full potential.

More on that tomorrow...

Bah. I've had enough of messing with my main rig, which is the only one that's going to hit those speeds. And I spend enough time tweaking when I'm actually benching anyway. It's a cool idea, I just don't need another benching-related project. I just got my 555 BE back, and I'm gonna dial it where it was before and leave it the hell alone.

Have fun fellas...
