Here's a look at a heatsink that is well-known to most overclockers, the ThermalTake Big Typhoon.

While the world of overclocking continues to offer new and more technical cooling options, many of us still prefer good, old-fashioned air cooling. But that doesn't mean we want to sacrifice performance! Air cooling offers lower cost, better hardware safety, and it can also do a fine job of keeping your processor cool. That doesn't mean the stock heatsink that came with processor is going to cut it for overclocking, though.

The Big Typhoon is in many ways the flagship cooling unit for ThermalTake, as it is an iconic presence in the ever-more-crowded landscape of high-performance air cooling. It boasts impressive size to match its impressive performance, with a 120mm fan crowning it's oversized aluminum radiator, set majestically atop a half-dozen copper heatpipes. It looks like it means business, and backs up that image with considerably lower temperatures than are offered by stock cooling units.
